Between the Sologne and the Loire Valley the floral Park of La Source, Orleans-Loiret offers a
marvellous collection of re-blooming iris germanica (bearded iris) as well as a field of blue irises, displayed in a recently created area dedicated to these royal flowers with their exquisite fragrances.

During your stroll round you can see, amongst other things, the source of the Loiret river, the well-stocked flowering beds and gardens, as well as the butterfly glasshouse with its tropical garden and various exotic birds.

The iris collection of Domaine de Morchêne was planted in 2007 and has been referenced "Collection Agréée" (meaning recognized collection) in December 2008. The Theme is "Iris Germanica Iridaceae". It assembles 446 different varieties, totalizing approximately 2000 irises. These irises originated from the iris collection of the Parc Floral and were entrusted to Morchêne by the City of Orléans. The collection is planted facing the Château of Morchêne and can be accessed free of charge. its most original helicoidal design allows for a pleasant walk through the entire garden. All the varieties are referenced with a number and the visitor can find the corresponding names on a billboard with the complete list fo varieties.
The maintenance is conducted by the Horticultural Society of Orléans and the Loiret Departement along with the town of Saint-Cyr-en-Val.

The Cayeux nursery, situated 5 km from Gien on the south bank of the Loire River, is the European leader in the creation and cultivation of irises. Since 1892, father to son, 4 generations of the family have excelled in this field and their creations are heralded the world over. The presentation ‘squares’, surrounded by 20 hectares of irises, allow the visitor to see and compare more than 400 varieties of iris, including the latest Cayeux creations as well as new varieties from overseas. An intoxicating world of colours and scents !

A garden planted with more than 500 varieties of roses and a good number of viburnums.Their exceptional, scent-filled flowering season of early May is succeeded by the scent of the numerous irises also planted throughout the garden. A real paradise at any season!

Crossed by a charming river, the Parc Romantique of the Chateau of Pesselières, former home of the hereditary Marshals of Sancerre, lets you discover, during your walk, a striking 300 year old boxwood allée with topiary, a flowering kitchen garden and orchard, a hornbeam maze and a notable collection of irises. Pesselières holds the “Jardin Remarquable” label. Irises are to be discovered everywhere: along the river below the Chateau and a new iris-garden on the hill ..!

Created around 50 years ago by Gilles de Brissac, the floral park lies like a jewel between the medieval village of Apremont, (classified as “One of France’s most beautiful villages”) and the Allier river.

Water irises and yellow Pseudacorus and purple Sibirica irises border the ponds, while blue and mauve bearded irises (‘Shipshape’ and ‘Amethyst Flame’) brighten up the spring and summer borders, an enchanting site for our visitors. Follies, waterfalls and a small museum, as well as temporary exhibitions and a walk on the chateau’s ramparts complete your visit from Easter to the end of September.

The Domaine de Poulaines, classified "Jardin Remarquable" is a private garden located in a village of the Berry.
During almost 30 years it has benefited from all the loving care of the current owners who have created gardens of various themes on 11 acres surrounded by 50 acres of woods.
Poulaines offers a collection of intermediate bearded along a water path followed by a collection of tall beardeds planted in the rose garden and others scattered among the perennials of mixed borders.
The gardens and arboretum of Poulaines also offer a large collection of trees and bushes (Cornus, Viburnums, Lilacs, Davidia...) Wysteria, roses,peonies, perennials and more! A deligntful park!

The Domain of Chaumont-sur-Loire, favoured by a key position overlooking the river Loire, is the first Centre of the Arts and Nature devoted to the relationship between nature and culture. Its Goualoup park features a superb “Sea of Irises” planted at the feet of some large cedar trees. In 2013 the iris variety ‘Jardins de Chaumont’ (created by Richard Cayeux) was officially named here and rounds off the collections of irises already found in the rest of the park.
