Parc Floral d'Apremont-sur-Allier

Parc Floral d'Apremont-sur-Allier

Created around 50 years ago by Gilles de Brissac, the floral park lies like a jewel between the medieval village of Apremont, (classified as “One of France’s most beautiful villages”) and the Allier river.

Water irises and yellow Pseudacorus and purple Sibirica irises border the ponds, while blue and mauve bearded irises (‘Shipshape’ and ‘Amethyst Flame’) brighten up the spring and summer borders, an enchanting site for our visitors. Follies, waterfalls and a small museum, as well as temporary exhibitions and a walk on the chateau’s ramparts complete your visit from Easter to the end of September.

Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire

The Domain of Chaumont-sur-Loire, favoured by a key position overlooking the river Loire, is the first Centre of the Arts and Nature devoted to the relationship between nature and culture. Its Goualoup park features a superb “Sea of Irises” planted at the feet of some large cedar trees. In 2013 the iris variety ‘Jardins de Chaumont’ (created by Richard Cayeux) was officially named here and rounds off the collections of irises already found in the rest of the park.
